Venture capital key to tech firms’ growth

The creation of new generation companies is driven more by the passion to build world-class products than conventional success factors. Echoing this is technology entrepreneur Srini Rajam. Widely credited for making Texas Instruments (TI) a role model among R&D centres for its product development maturity, the entrepreneurial bug bit him in November 2000 when he announced his intent to leave Texas Instruments and start a new venture focused on DSP applications. His venture, Ittiam Systems, develops complete DSP systems, from a next generation IP videophone solution to portable media player (PMP) technologies." We go as far as producing a complete prototype, including the hardware and software, and the systems software, to the extent that some of our customers are putting only the plastic and the packaging around it," he told Sudhir Chowdhary in a recent chat.
