Official Board Markets
Spectra-kote Corp., received certification for its coating and WAM™ medium for corrugated boxes by the Fibre Box Association, Rolling Meadows, Ill., protocol standards for recyclability. The coating is a proven moisture barrier that maintains its ability to be recycled unlike traditional wax coatings. Nearly 3 billion pounds of non-recyclable, wax-coated corrugated board gets dumped in landfills each year. Using Spectra-kote’s coating and WAM medium can help reduce that amount. For more information, call 717-334-3177 or visit www.spectra-kote.com.
XQinnovations, a research and development company based in Melbourne, Australia, created the Box Quality Measure tool, a transportable tool that releases vibrations into the card to test its strength instead of having to take samples to the lab. The Box Quality Measure tool does not measure thickness, it measures shear stiffness, or how well the structure resists being pushed over onto its side, instead. The tool costs about $10,000 per unit but can possibly save up to 30 percent of paper in some applications. For more information, visit www.xqi.com.au.
