Its important to choose the right boxes
Use a box that’s strong enough to protect the contents and leave enough space to add adequate cushioning material. New boxes are always the best to use, but if you choose to use a previously used box, make sure to remove or blackout all the old shipping labels, and make sure the boxes are in good shape with no weak spots or tears old or new, only use boxes made out of heavy corrugated cardboard.
Protect your items with proper packing
Do not be light with the cushioning material. Use bubble wrap foam fill or shipping peanuts. Pack tightly to avoid items from shifting in transit, make sure the cushioning material is completely around all the sides of the item. If you’re shipping several items together in one box or crate, wrap each one separately and provide plenty of cushioning material between objects to prevent any shifting or movement. A good rule of thumb is “you can never have too much cushioning in any box!”
Seal your boxes carefully
After packing and padding your boxes gently shake each of the boxes, If nothing moves or wiggles, it’s ready to be shut and sealed. For a strong seal, use packing tape that is designed for shipping boxes. Always cover all the seams with packing tape and do not leave any open seams that could get caught or snag.
Addressing your boxes correctly
Each box need to be labeled with the name & address of the consignee. Make sure to include ZIP code the complete street address and include building/apartment or unit number. Use peel and stick labels. But if you make your own or use a copy of the bill of lading make sure to cover the entire label with clear packing tape or else it may rip and be unreadable.
